(includes a 19-hour workshop and two 1.5-hour Private Teaching Sessions)
What you must have:
• A positive attitude, friendly disposition and well-groomed, healthy, professional appearance!
• A massage chair***.
• Dependable transportation.
• Proof of your Texas Massage Registration.
• Proof of your Professional Liability Insurance
(at least by the time you begin our training program).
• A telephone with voice mail or answering machine.
• A computer with internet access and email OR a fax machine that is always on.
What you must do:
1. Come to our office for an interview (20 minutes) and pre-qualifying test (20 minutes) to find out if you have what it takes to administer/deliver a Seize the Day Chair Massage. You will be asked to:
• Give your weight and height (minimum requirements are 120 pounds and 5'2")
• Demonstrate adequate grip strength measured by a dynamometer.
• Demonstrate adequate pinch strength measured by a hydraulic pinch gauge.
2. Experience the Seize the Day chair massage technique (20 minutes) and decide whether or not it is something you want to emulate.
After you pass the pre-qualifying test/interview & you like our style of chair massage, and you want to proceed further, you:
3. Fill out an application to work for us, which we process.
After your application has been processed and we want you to work for us, we will contact you. Then, after all YOUR questions have been thoroughly answered, you:
4. Sign the proverbial agreements:
• To work according to the policies and procedures of Seize the Day.
• To respect the business relationships established by Seize the Day.
• To perform up to 10 hours of complimentary chair massage in the coming year. This is to be used for Public Relations and Marketing purposes only (health fairs, customer samples, fund raisers for non-profit organizations, etc.). Seize the Day Massage does not make any money off of your free labor. And these are excellent opportunities to further promote your private practice!
5. Purchase chair massage tools for $42.00 + tax.
6. Participate in a group orientation/training, whereby you learn all the policies and procedures of the Seize the Day culture and you learn the Seize the Day chair massage technique ****.
7. Participate in two or more 1.5 hour private teaching sessions with Tom Darilek*****, owner and training specialist, to assist you in becoming proficient in doing the Seize the Day chair massage technique.
8. Practice, practice, practice! By the time of your second private teaching session, you will have done fifteen 20-minute chair massage sessions on your own time. This will be documented via client feedback forms.
9. Receive an official certificate** declaring that you have successfully completed a 22-hour program of study, and are certified in the Seize the Day Chair Massage Technique!
10. Purchase a Seize the Day polo shirt for $15.00 + tax (you may buy more if you want), and a name badge for $8.50 + tax.
11. Finally, start doing Seize the Day chair massage gigs for pay and promote your private practice everywhere you go!

**You must successfully complete the training (including the private teaching sessions) in order to receive the certificate.
***Not all massage chairs are equal, but most are O.K. However, we absolutely do not allow chairs with swiveling or "floating" knee pads. ****Other chair massage courses honored by Seize the Day Massage are: The Chair Massage Workshop taught at The Lauterstein-Conway Massage School , as well as workshops offered by the Touch Pro Institute . However, you must still participate in our 3-hour orientation as well as the two 1.5-hour Private Teaching Sessions in order to join the Seize the Day Team; 6 hours of continuing education.
